Eteropod [Pterotrachea hippocampus] is actually part of the Phylum Mollusca and is a gastropod. Heteropods are visual predators and along with janthinids are the only prosobranch gastropods to live their lives entirely in open ocean. This individual is only two inches long and was photographed at night in open ocean several miles off the Big Island of Hawaii. It's tail is on the left and the "big fluffy" part is the gills.
